VENTURES AFRICA Africell Holdiing, a Lebanese-held telecom group has announced that its subsidiary operator Africell Sierra Leone, has exceeded the 2 million mark for active subscribers on its network, with current subscriber base at 2.25 million.

Africell Sierra Leone – the first operator to introduce 3G in August 2011 – is a market leader with 65 percent market share. It is expected to cross the 3 million active subscribers by the end of 2014.

In the last 5 years, Africell Sierra Leone has experienced the highest growth in terms of percentage of subscribers’ base. As at August 2013, it had 2 million loyal subscribers, meaning over 33 percent of the country’s 6 million citizens were connected to its network.

Africell Holding fully owns and operates 3 mobile subsidiaries in Africa including Africell Gambia, Africell Sierra Leone, and Africell RDC. The group ended 2013 with over 7 million active subscribers and is expecting to grow that figure to 11 million by the end of 2014.
